WIP - Cinderella

A sneak-peek on the next princess in my series...
second Disney princess, Cinderella!

I gave her a mask since Cinderella only makes sense to me if the ball is a Masquerade. I mean... come on. The prince dances with her all night and then he doesn't remember her... face? Nope. He has to look for the only girl who wears her foot size in town... weird.

Anyway, her Disney version is so lovely... just, since there are so few details, making her dress look different and more detailed, yet reconizable, will be very, very challenging... I hope I manage to to it!
Well, drawing the transparent details will be fun! ^^

I hope you like her!

Vote in the poll to chose the next princess in the series! =3

Mai Princess - Snow White

First in my new Princess series...

"Once upon a time... in a far, far away kingdom,
a beautiful princess with ruby red lips, raven black hair
and skin as white as Snow."

I had so much fun - and work - painting her... the velvet, satin and
brocade where lovely to color but oh, these ruffles... so hard! x_x

I'll go for a semi-realistic painting with this series... to challenge myself
and to add richness in the final result. I want an Antique Story Book feel to it...

...And a detail shot, so you can see the fabrics and take a better look
on her tiara - apple-themed, and with 7 gold & sapphire ornments,
representing the Seven Dwarfs. ^^

Oh, also, I know her hair is not really Black here - but dark brown
looked more natural and delicate on her - plus, more antique-looking.

Except for the apples, textures and patterns used do not belong to me.

Wich princess you want to see next? ^_^

New Series! WIP - Snow White

I see many great artists portraying their versions of Disney (and non-disney)
princesses... and I've been wanting to do this for a while, too. ^^

So, I'm starting Mai Princess Series!
I'll redesign Disney (and maaaybe non-disney) princesses in my own
style, following the original designs as a base, but with a much more
"Fairy Tale Illustrated Book" aestethics, with lots of detail (as I love <3).

Since the first Disney princess is Snow White, I'll start with her! ^^

She's not my favourite personality-wise... but her design is sweet
(and fun to play with). Going from the puffy sleeves and high collar in the
original dress, I turned her outfit in something... XVI-century-esque...
But with some classic Fairy Tale innacuracy... lol ;P

Yay ruffles! <3

...Wich other princess(es) do you want to see soon?

Yuutaro - Itadakimasu!

Silly sketch of my ordinary-looking samurai Yuutaro and
his lunch... tonjiki (nowadays, we call it onigiri ^^).
I'm currently addictet to drawing this little guy... ;P

Yes, he starts eating the bigger one first! XD
...And he's not very elegant, but he looks happy with his meal...

He had his katana by his side, but it looked ugly... so, removed.

ITADAKIMASU!

Blog Feature

Featuring this super cool blog about modern kimono (and accessories)! <3

Althou I can't "officialy" follow a Tumbrl blog from my Blogger (grr, why?!)...
I always check this amazing blog for pretty kimono and gorgeous color combinations!

The blogger knows really a lot about wafuku,
so it's also a great source to learn! ^^

Also, a pretty pretty pair of zori from Mamechiyo! <3

I love stripes with polka dots, such a lovely combinaton!
Plus, the black/ soft pink/ white mix makes it look both modern and sweet! <3

Yuutaro

A sketch I did in my notebook (hence the ugly lines...)

A small tribute to all the anonymous plain-samurai-guard extras
that appear in ALL ancient Japan stories...XD

The poor guys are usually beat up by the movie heroes - or, in "historical" anime, by a bishounen with very bothering period-innacurate super-long-hot-sparkly hair (yes, Hakuouki series, I'm looking at you. In despise.)

I named him Yuutaro. He's so cute I want to draw him more! <3

I want this kimono so bad...

Just a fast feature of this absolutely beautiful kimono I found a while ago...
humm, I guess maybe on Mimuro? (can't find it again and be sure, sorry).

Waah, lovely pink base, pastel yellow clouds, super delicate pattern...
It's so pretty I seriously want to cry. Well, maybe not seriously, but...

...yeah, probably seriously.

JSHE- Sengoku Summer 2

Next on my Japanese Seasons/Historical Eras series....
Sengoku Summer-kun!

The Sengoku period (middle XV to early XVII centuries) is also called the Warring States period, due to the many conflicts between the feudal lords in Japan... So, this samurai wears a light domaru armor, and a kabuto helmet, ready for battle! He also carries a tachi, a sword similar to the katana, only larger, more curved and older in origin.

The color scheme is similar to the one used by the lady in "Sengoku Summer", but the colors have less bright, more masculine tones. The patterns used show spirals resembling waves and kikyo flowers,
both summer themes.

The armor was soooo hard to draw! x_x
(I could have make him wear a daimon or hitatare but nooo...)
Well, at least it was a good challenge. Don't know if I succeeded...
but I think he looks nice... =)

Textures and patterns used do not belong to me.
